It’s two days late, but Tennessee softball finally gets to begin SEC play today. What was supposed to be a three-game series that began Friday will just be a doubleheader on Sunday after games Friday and Saturday were canceled due to weather.

On the heels of a dominant 9-1 midweek win over the Austin Peay Governors this past weekend, UT back on the road to open league play. It’s a top 25 matchup at that. Karen Weekly’s team, which is 16-6 right now, will visit the Missouri Tigers for a three-game series.

The Lady Vols come into the series ranked No. 18 to No. 14 depending on the service. Mizzou, meanwhile, comes in at 16-4 and ranked in the range of No. 21 to No. 8. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee softball’s matchup.

Tennessee Volunteers at Missouri Tigers

Sunday, March 13; Mizzou Softball Stadium; Columbia, Mo.

Game 1

Game 2

UT is currently on a seven-game winning streak, which incidentally lines up with the first seven home games they have played this year, including five games at the Tennessee Invitational, which they won last week. If they could continue that at Mizzou, it would be a huge statement for the program this early in the season.

On the other side, Mizzou has suffered two losses at the Northern Lights Invitational, one at The Spring Games and one at the Mary Nutter Classic. They won four games at each of those events. Most recently, though, they swept the Mizzou Tournament last weekend, winning all four games.

As these are also the first two SEC games for Missouri, both teams will be looking to set the tone for league play. However, Mizzou does seem to have the advantage, as neither team has lost at home yet this year, but neither has been that tested yet either.

After these two games, Tennessee softball has a midweek matchup Tuesday with the Memphis Tigers in Columbia, Tenn., which is in Maury County just south of Nashville. They will then host the Arkansas Razorbacks next week. Mizzou, meanwhile, has a doubleheader Wednesday with the Illinois Fighting Illini before hosting the Mizzou Classic next weekend.
