All four Tennessee football players at last week’s NFL Combine had more to sell than just their physical attributes. The two who gained the least on here played in the trenches, but as mentioned, both of them are more valued for their versatility than anything else, and a combine isn’t going to measure that.

Another player is limited when it comes to versatility, Velus Jones Jr., but he used the combine to show he could be elite where he specifically needs to be. Meanwhile, Alontae Taylor is the one with the versatility and the elite combine performance.

As a result, from a broad perspective, the combine didn’t necessarily hurt any former Vol there. Production should always be more valuable than these measurements, and these guys have all produced at a necessary level. Again, that’s why Theo Jackson should have been invited. All he did was produce at a high level during his senior year.

If there’s one bit of concern it’s that the dramatic change in Tennessee football’s schemes last year are going to make some scouts question the production, particularly on offense. However, that would really only apply to Jones, and his combine worked out, so this is not really an issue.
