Potential Round of 32 matchups

No. 5 seed Oregon Ducks (20-11)

Getting past Buffalo would be brutal on its own, but assuming they are able to do that, the Tennessee Lady Vols would have to survive another powerhouse program. The Oregon Ducks have become a perennial contender under eighth-year head coach Kelly Graves. In the past four NCAA Tournaments actually played, they made the Sweet 16 every year.

As a result, if UT is to make it past the first weekend, they have to end that drought. Oregon has made three Elite Eight appearances and a Final Four in that run too. To be fair, this team has played significantly worse than the previous ones so far this year, but they are still experienced at deep runs in March.

No. 12 seed Belmont Bruins (22-7)

So much for home court advantage of UT hosts the Belmont Bruins in the second round. Okay, so it’d still be home court advantage, even if they visited Belmont. Either way, an in-state matchup to go to the Sweet 16 would be interesting, and they wouldn’t be able to take this game lightly.

Make no mistake, Vol fans should root for Belmont to beat Oregon, but the Ohio Valley Champions are no stranger to this event under fourth-year head coach Bart Brooks. He took them there in 2019, and last year, they won their first game as a No. 12 seed, so watch out.
