In the midst of a 10-game winning streak and coming off an 8-4 win over the Memphis Tigers in the Midstate Classic in Columbia, Tenn., just outside of Nashville this past Tuesday, Tennessee softball returns to Rocky Top for a weekend series. It’ll be their SEC home opening series at that.

Karen Weekly’s team, ranked anywhere from No. 17 to No. 11, welcomes the Arkansas Razorbacks to town for a three-game series. Last week, UT swept the Missouri Tigers on the road, who arec currently ranked  ranked anywhere from No. 16 to No. 19, in a doubleheader Sunday.

On the other side, this is the SEC series opener for the Hogs in general. Ranked anywhere from No. 8 to No. 11, they are coming off of wins over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks and Maryland Terrapins in the JMU Invitational last weekend. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee softball’s second SEC series.

Broadcast information

Arkansas hasn’t played since last Saturday, as their Sunday matchup with the James Madison Dukes at the JMU Invitational was canceled. Since then, UT has played three games, so they should be in more of a rhythm for this series.

Sweeping Mizzou was a huge test the Lady Vols passed. That should give them the confidence they need in this series, and if they can take at least two of three, they should be looking at a top 10 ranking in some polls next week.

As for the Hogs, they still have a lot to prove. Their only top 25 matchups all year were two losses to the Washington Huskies at the Puerto Vallarta Collegiate Classic to open the season. That’s why, despite their high rankings, they aren’t even in the top 30 of the RPI.

After this series, Tennessee softball will visit the Florida Gators next weekend for another three-game series. Arkansas, meanwhile, will visit the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Monday before returning home for a three-game series against the LSU Tigers next weekend.
