On the heels of losing two of three to the Arkansas Razorbacks at home last weekend, Tennessee softball is back on the road for another crucial SEC series. It’s another top 10 matchup as well and will mark their sixth, seventh and eighth straight game against ranked teams when it comes to league play.
Karen Weekly’s Lady Vols, ranked either No. 14 or No. 15 depending on the service, will face the Florida Gators for a three-game series on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. UT is 2-0 on the road in the SEC after beating the Missouri Tigers in a doubleheader to begin conference play.
Florida comes in ranked in the range of No. 4 to No. 6 depending on the service. They beat the Stetson Hatters 7-0 earlier in the week and took two of three from the Texas A&M Aggies on the road last weekend. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee softball’s series.

There were supposed to be two games by Florida against Stetson earlier this week, but after winning at their place Tuesday, Wednesday’s game at UF was postponed until April 27. Tuesday’s game was a make-up game from the previous week as well.
Against top 25 teams on the year, Rocky Top is 4-7. Florida is only 2-0, though, so they haven’t really been tested. However, they have already beaten UCF this year, and UCF is a top 25 team now. The Lady Vols beat them as well.
Because of COVID in 2020, Tim Walton’s program hasn’t been to the Women’s College World Series since 2019 after being eliminated in last year’s Super Regionals, so they are on a mission this year to end the drought. That mission also applies to UT, which hasn’t been back since 2015.
After this weekend, Tennessee softball will host the Lipscomb Bisons for a midweek matchup Wednesday before welcoming the Mississippi State Bulldogs to town for a three-game series next weekend. Florida will host the UCF Knights Wednesday and visit the Auburn Tigers for a three-game series next weekend.
