Offensive skill players from the state of Florida continue to take an interest in Tennessee football, even at the positions where the Vols should be loaded. Josh Heupel now has Rocky Top trending for a 2023 Jacksonville running back.

Rocky Top is in the top five for Duval County, Fla., all-purpose back Treyaun Webb. A four-star across every service except On3, where he is a three-star, Webb stands in the range of 5’11” to 6’1″ and weighs in the range of 185 to 205 pounds. He hails from Trinity Christian Academy.

Joining Tennessee football on Webb’s list are the Florida Gators, Baylor Bears, South Carolina Gamecocks and Penn State Nittany Lions. After initially committing to the Oklahoma Sooners last July, Webb decommitted in November. He announced this list Friday afternoon on Twitter.

What stands out about the Vols trending for Webb is that he plays at a position where they will be loaded for years to come. Jabari Small is entering his junior year, and Len’Neth Whitehead and Jaylen Wright are both sophomores. Wright plays more Webb’s style.

The additions of Dylan Sampson and Justin Williams in Rocky Top’s 2022 class mean even more depth going forward. Simply put, Heupel’s offense is so intriguing that running backs like Webb are entertaining dealing with tons of competition for playing time.

Given the struggles of the Vols in previous years, that says a lot about the type of attention they are drawing. Heupel’s experience coaching the UCF Knights combined with his early offensive success at UT and the recruiting he’s currently doing on that side of the ball for 2023 has to help.

Predictions for Webb are all over the place. Oklahoma was still the majority favorite on the Rivals Future Cast and the plurality favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast. They are tied with the Georgia Bulldogs for the second favorite in terms of 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions. However, neither school made the cut.

On3 has South Carolina in the lead with Florida second, Baylor third and Penn State fourth. 247Sports has Florida in the lead with South Carolina fourth. Simply put, Tennessee football has a lot of competition to land Webb, but making this most recent cut alone was impressive.
