Scouting Report. Linebacker. Aaron Beasley. 5. 839. Pick Analysis. Senior. player

6’1″ 225 pounds

Although he started last year, has two years of eligibility left and could take a redshirt, Aaron Beasley has to stand out in the spring. Tennessee football may have all its returning linebackers for the year, but there’s no doubt they had issues at the position last year. Beasley had the fourth lowest PFF regular season grade of anybody on the team last year.

Now, to be fair, he was the highest of the three linebackers. However, that low level of production means the competition at the position is wide open this year. The addition of transfer Jackson Hannah makes it tough on its own, but then linebacker William Mohan is out until the fall, and Kalib Perry will arrive then too.

As a result, older linebackers desperately need to stand out this spring, as this may be their last chance to truly prove themselves. Beasley has some production last year to show, but the graduate of Heard County High School in Franklin, Ga., didn’t show enough.

Jeremy Pruitt recruited Beasley as a defensive back out of Georgia, so he may get some leeway while still adjusting to the role, but time is still running out on him. This spring is necessary if he’s going to continue to be in the rotation during the fall.
