Ranking Tennessee football’s early enrollees for 2022 by potential impact

Back to wide receivers, Kaleb Webb has the best chance to make an early impact for Tennessee football. The graduate of McEachern High School in Georgia’s Cobb County was the highest-rated receiver overall of the bunch, as he was a four-star on every service except for ESPN, where he was listed as a three-star for some reason.
Now, to be fair, Cameron Miller was higher than Webb on ESPN specifically, even though Webb was more highly touted, and Miller brings more diversity since he can play the slot or wideout. Webb, given his size, is clearly being recruited as the No. 2 wideout.
That puts him in competition with Walker Merrill and Ramel Keyton in addition to Miller. However, as a wideout specifically, Webb brings the most hype of all those guys to the position. Also, there may be more opportunities for him than you might think. The promotion of new wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope to replace Kodi Burns suggests Josh Heupel is prioritizing wideouts.
Remember, Pope specifically developed Cedric Tillman, and three of the Vols’ four recruits in 2022 are more wideout leaning. That means they could go for all big receivers, meaning a guy like Webb could play in the middle or start opposite Tillman. Either way, him making an immediate impact wouldn’t be shocking.
