Ranking Tennessee football’s early enrollees for 2022 by potential impact

Although transfers are exempt from this list, junior college guys are commitments in recruiting classes, so they can make it. You don’t take junior college players without expecting them to make an early impact, and that’s what Tennessee football did with Desmond Williams.
Despite being a three-star across the board out of East Central Community College in Decatur Miss., Williams brings experience. He is specifically a cornerback. Before going to JuCo in Mississippi’s Newton County, Williams graduated from Mary Persons High School in Georgia’s Monroe County, which is in the Macon area.
Anyway, as a junior with two years of eligibility left, Williams expects to have an impact immediately. Given the departure of Alontae Taylor and the way Warren Burrell and Kamal Hadden struggled as the starters in the Music City Bowl against the Purdue Boilermakers, he’s got a great chance to make that impact early.
Add in the departure of nickel Theo Jackson, and Williams has two positions he can play. Now, the competition is there with Burrell, Hadden, De’Shawn Rucker, Brandon Turnage and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets transfer Wesley Walker. They are all out of spring ball, though, so Williams has a chance to get a huge edge. That puts him high on this list.
