Alpharetta, Ga.. Mo Clipper Jr.. 11. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 839. Offensive lineman

6’5″ 305 pounds

Obviously, Tennessee football has a soft spot for Alpharetta. The Fulton County town outside of Atlanta gave the Vols Joshua Dobbs, arguably their best career quarterback since Peyton Manning and definitely since Erik Ainge. Well, the Vols have now added another player out of there, Mo Clipper Jr. of Georgia’s Milton High School.

Clipper did earn a four-star rating on one service, ESPN, and he is a more versatile lineman who has been listed as a guard and a tackle by different services. Those two things put him above Brian Grant, as he has slightly more potential, could just as easily compete for the open right tackle spot and may have room in the guard rotation.

However, there’s one issue that keeps Clipper down here, and that’s the fact that he seems to be more of a guard. Only Rivals had him as a tackle, and Rivals too often places linemen at tackle. Every other recruiting service had him listed as a guard, and that seems to be more his style.

Taking that into account, Clipper’s best chance to win a job is on the interior, and everybody is back there, so he’s not likely to see much action this year. However, they will open up next year, especially with Jerome Carvin certain to not come back, so being an early enrollee now definitely gives Clipper a head start.
