Ranking Tennessee football’s early enrollees for 2022 by potential impact
5’10” 160 pounds
Known as “Squirrel” White, the kid from Alabama’s biggest metro area brings one unique aspect to Tennessee football that puts him ahead of Chas Nimrod: speed. White has clocked in a 4.37 40-yard dash, something that will only get better as he develops his conditioning on Rocky Top. Like Nimrod, he was a four-star on one service, On3, and a three-star everywhere else.
The graduate of Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson, Ala., which is still in Jefferson County outside of Birmingham, is the one guy purely locked into the slot among the early enrollee receivers. Given his size and his weight, it’s pretty clear he doesn’t have a shot at wideout.
While that gives him an advantage over Nimrod, who only has a shot at wideout, where there is more competition, it does hurt him overall. After all, he’s got to compete with Jimmy Calloway, Jalin Hyatt and Jimmy Holiday as Jones’ replacement, and all are returners.
Add in the fact that he’s only 160 pounds, and he doesn’t seem to be conditioned just yet to be able to handle playing the slot in the SEC. Josh Heupel could use him on specific gadget plays, which puts him in the top half of this list, but there are still factors holding him back.
