Lost Super Bowl

Yes, offensive line is what stood out for the Cincinnati Bengals’ Super Bowl loss, but outside of that, defense is where they should put all of their energy. Cornerback and defensive line are considered their biggest needs in this year’s NFL Draft, and Matthew Butler could obviously help fill one of those voids.

With Larry Ogunjobi as a free agent, Butler isn’t going to be high on their priority list, as they need a guy who can come in immediately and make an impact. However, they also need some competition and depth. Simply put, they need multiple defensive tackles.

As a result, while Butler doesn’t address their immediate need at the position, he addresses a need, and that makes him the perfect candidate to land with them. What really helps him is that defensive tackle is not a position with tons of highly touted prospects, so Cincy could take him with no real competition when looking at its future at the position.

There were no former Tennessee football players on Cincinnati’s roster last year, so why not add one in Butler? He could be part of a rotation that helps them get over that hump and actually wins a Super Bowl after coming so close this past season.
