Freshman. 4. 839. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wide receiver. Marquarius White. player

5’10” 160 pounds

We’re onto another receiver, the second one on the list who would purely be the slot guy. “Squirrel” White, who committed to the Vols out of Alabama, is the other true freshman for Tennessee football to make an impact. Chas Nimrod did it as the wideout. White did it as the speedy weapon who could potentially replace Velus Jones Jr. in the middle.

The product of Birmingham, Ala., who attended Clay-Chalkville High School, which is still in Jefferson County, didn’t stand out in the scrimmage open to the media, and he didn’t often have his name called byt he coaches throughout the practice press conferences. However, one quote put him up here.

Josh Heupel specifically mentioned him after the first scrimmage as a playmaker. Doing that so early given the fact that he is a true freshman can’t be overlooked, and you can bet the coaches will continue to keep a major eye on him when August rolls around.

If White were a junior or senior, that wouldn’t be enough to put him so high on this list. However, he’s a true freshman, and he’s already making waves like that. As a result, we have to put him up here on this list, and it looks like he’ll be in the slot rotation sooner rather than later.
