Tennessee football: Velus Jones Jr.’s five best NFL landing spots
Missed NFL Playoffs
Frank Reich coaching Matt Ryan could be a match made in heaven, so it’s reasonable to believe the Indianapolis Colts will have an elite passing attack this year. All they need is a speedy receiver to complete their rotation, and Tennessee football’s Velus Jones Jr. could provide just that.
With Jonathan Taylor as a power back and Michael Pittman Jr. as the go-to wideout, the Colts need a change of pace with a speedy receiver. T.Y. Hilton is a free agent, and Zach Pascal is now gone. As a result, they will be looking for receivers in the NFL Draft to open up competition at camp, and Jones fits their profile perfectly.
Wideouts like Treylon Burks will be the focus for the Colts early in the draft, as they need somebody who could complement Pittman. However, that gives a speedy receiver a chance late in the draft who could arrive in Indy with much less pressure but be seen as the perfect piece to the overall puzzle in Reich’s offense.
Ashton Dulin is still there as a return specialist, but the Colts could have room for Jones to make an impact on that front, as nobody really stood out in that aspect. Tennessee football hasn’t had a star for the Colts since Peyton Manning. Maybe Jones could become that next guy.
