Tennessee football: Alontae Taylor’s five best NFL landing spots
Lost NFC Championship
Emmanuel Moseley emerging from an undrafted free agent into a starting cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers may have them a bit bias to players from Tennessee football. Why not have another former Vol become one of their starting cornerbacks opposite Moseley? Or maybe they could use that former Vol to replace Moseley.
Anyway, San Francisco lost K’Waun Williams. They still have Moseley, Charvarius Ward and Ambry Thomas, so they wouldn’t be looking for any immediate help this year. However, Moseley is in the final year of his contract, and he’ll likely command a lot of money on the open market.
That means this is the year for San Francisco to find a guy who can provide competition at the position and then potentially become a starter a year later. What better situation for Taylor to be in? He could learn behind this rotation and then emerge as one of the starters in 2023.
Ward isn’t permanently locked in beyond 2024 either, so if Taylor proves himself on the bench next year and then in the rotation in 2023, he gives San Francisco the perfect chance to go all in for him in 2024. Going to a team that has a big need at cornerback now but not a starting cornerback would be perfect for Taylor.
