Lost AFC Championship

Arguably the greatest Tennessee football defensive back ever in the NFL played for the Kansas City Chiefs in Eric Berry. He was purely a safety but could have played cornerback if needed. Theo Jackson is more of a nickel who could play safety or cornerback. Also, he comes with a lot less hype than Berry did.

Still, KC has a solid track record of success with former Vols, and Jackson could be the next player on that list. Like the Buffalo Bills, they showed in the playoffs they need help on the back end, but they also need depth, and Jackson could end up providing both.

Wide receiver will still be the top position of interest for KC with Tyreek Hill gone, but their next two priorities are both cornerback and safety. That’ll especially be the case if Tyrann Mathieu doesn’t return. They’ll likely spend high draft picks on both individually, but then they could look at Jackson as a guy to bolster depth at each position.

Last year, KC got a steal from Tennessee football with a late draft pick in Trey Smith, who fell to the sixth round. We already mentioned the success they had with Berry. Well, Jackson combines both of those profiles, so maybe they’ll take a hard look at him.
