Missed NFL Playoffs
Cornerback is the top need for the Minnesota Vikings right now since they will have openings next year with Patrick Peterson likely to be gone. However, they need a safety this year to have more depth and competition, so it’s likely they’ll look in the draft for defensive backs on multiple picks, including in the later rounds.
Once again, Theo Jackson would fit their profile perfectly. He brings depth across the board this year and can compete to fill any void after developing for a year. As a result, Minnesota should definitely take a hard look at him as a fifth to seventh round draft pick.
Even if they don’t they could steal him as an undrafted free agent. Former Tennessee football defensive back Justin Coleman became the NFL’s highest-paid nickel a few years ago after being discovered by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent. Jackson starred as a nickel for UT last year, so there are a lot of reasons this is a good fit for him.
Safety is not a position they have focused on during free agency making it even more likely they’re going to be looking for a guy who could be a steal for them in one of the later rounds. All of that makes this a perfect place for him to end up at.
