Tennessee baseball preview vs. No. 17-21 Auburn: Live stream, game times, TV and radio info

Coming off a 10-1 midweek win over the Xavier Musketeers and a sweep of the Florida Gators last weekend on the road, Tennessee baseball, ranked No. 1 across the board, is set to host another SEC series. This time, Tony Vitello will look to coach the whole series as well.

Rocky Top welcomes the Auburn Tigers to town for three games. Ranked in the range of No. 17 to No. 21 depending on the service you go by, Auburn will be the highest ranked opponent UT has faced since they swept the Ole Miss Rebels and Vanderbilt Commodores in back to back weeks.

Led by seventh-year head coach Butch Thompson, the Tigers enter on a seven-game winning streak. They most recently beat the Jacksonville State Gamecocks 8-4 in the middle of this past week and swept the South Carolina Gamecocks last weekend. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee baseball’s matchup.

It’s worth noting that Auburn is on just as long of a winning streak as the Vols. However, Rocky Top did deal with the distraction of Vitello being suspended for part of each of their last two SEC series, two games against Florida and then one against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Still, they are a dangerous team, and while UT is off to the best start in SEC history, they are vulnerable. After all, they did lose a game to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, and they lost their last game against a top 25 team Vitello finished. That was the series opener at home against Alabama two weeks ago.

Simply put, this series can’t be taken lightly. Last week, the Vols needed clutch pitching on Saturday and a ninth-inning comeback on Sunday to sweep Florida. They easily could have lost two of three in that series.

After this weekend, Tennessee baseball hosts the Alabama A&M Bulldogs Tuesday before visiting the Kentucky Wildcats next Thursday through Saturday. Auburn will host the Arkansas Razorbacks for a three-game series next weekend.
