According to UTSports, the Vols’ projected starters on the mound are Chase Burns for Thursday, Blade Tidwell for Friday and Drew Beam for Saturday. Kentucky’s projected starters are Ryan Hagenow Thursday and Sean Harney Saturday. Friday for them is TBA.
Earlier this week, the Vols set the program single-season home run record. That number is up to 108, which broke the previous record of 107, and there are still 11 games left to play. They have over 10 more home runs than every team in the nation on the year.
The Vols have won 12 straight series against opponents, including every one they’ve played this year and nine straight against SEC teams dating back to last year’s NCAA Super Regionals against the LSU Tigers. With three series left, they could feasibly win every series this regular season.
After this weekend, Tennessee baseball hosts the Bellarmine Knights for a midweek matchup Tuesday before their final SEC home series next weekend against Georgia. Kentucky hosts the Eastern Kentucky Colonels Tuesday before their final SEC home series next weekend against the Ole Miss Rebels.
