Tennessee football’s top 10 NFL Draft prospects for 2023
5’11” 200 pounds
Starting opposite Jaylen McCollough as Tennessee football’s free safety, Trevon Flowers brings the opposite to the table for NFL scouts. He’s the coverage safety, but he only had two interceptions to McCollough’s three last year. On the other hand, last year was Flowers’ first healthy season since 2018, and he was one of UT’s best at containment.
That’s what allowed the Atlanta kid to have a decent PFF regular season grade at 63, one that could get better this year. He had three pass deflections along with his two picks and can play physical when needed, evidenced by his 82 tackles, 48 of which were solo.
What helps Flowers is that he’s a natural center fielder. Playing baseball and not attending camps while in high school kept his recruiting rating down, as he was a three-star out of Tucker High School in DeKalb County, Ga., when he signed with Jeremy Pruitt’s first class.
Now, Flowers is a member of that group entering his second senior season. He’ll be out of eligibility after this year, but he’s got the fundamentals down for NFL scouts to love him. Production is more dependent on what those around him too. Scouts will understand that, so he should be fine.
