Scouting Report. Jacob Warren. 6. Pick Analysis. Tight end. Senior. player. 839

6’6″ 250 pounds

Of the two tight ends returning to Tennessee football, Jacob Warren is more of the blocking tight end. He was a local Knox County three-star recruit across the board in Jeremy Pruitt’s first class back in 2018. In fact, he committed the May before to play for Butch Jones and his staff and never wavered through the coaching change or this past one.

In addition to being more of the physical tight end, Warren turned into a red zone target for the Vols. He had 18 catches for 179 yards and three touchdowns, more than doubling his combined production from the previous three years, proving a guy with his style could fit in Josh Heupel’s tempo-based offense.

The graduate of Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tenn., actually has two years left, as he redshirted in 2018 and could take advantage of the 2020 COVID eligibility ruling to return in 2023. That could allow him a year to himself depending on how the spot shakes out.

This year, Warren won’t be the primary tight end used. However, Heupel’s rotation means he’ll see significant action, and given what he showed in just one year in the system, that could be a huge boost for the Vols. Here’s one guy Heupel truly helped emerge onto the scene.
