One more regular season event is set to take place for the Tennessee Vols athletics program, and it begins today. By this time Monday, every sport still going on with the university will be in the heart of postseason play, and some already are.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with that final regular season event, and yes, it’s on the baseball diamond. Baseball made news in another area as well, as one UT player was recognized by the SEC on a postseason awards list Wednesday.

We’ll cover both of those things, and then we’ll get into postseason play in other sports. One sport saw its season come to an end Wednesday, and another sport is about to begin its second weekend of postseason play. Let’s dive in, starting on the diamond.

The Tennessee Vols baseball team will begin their final series of the regular season Thursday at the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Play begins at 7 p.m. ET Thursday and Friday and 3 p.m. ET Saturday. Kirby Connell named to Community Service Team – SECSports

Junior pitcher Kirby Connell represented Tennessee baseball on this year’s SEC Community Service Team. The award was announced Wednesday.

"Connell excelled in his junior year at Tennessee making a difference in the community. Not only did his work serve the people of Knoxville, the reach of his service extended globally as he went on a week-long service trip to Belize over the summer."

Golf season ends at NCAA Bryan Regional – Austin Price, VolQuest

A horrendous start Monday was too much to overcome. The Tennessee Vols men’s golf team got close after a strong showing Tuesday, but they couldn’t close the deal and finished seventh at the regional after Wednesday’s even with only the top five advancing to NCAA Championships. Here’s what head coach Brennan Webb said about the day.

"“We needed to get off to a good start (Wednesday), and did about the exact opposite. I think we were 12-over after six holes for our four guys who we’re counting, and really not the hardest part of the golf course, so not a great day for us at all.”"

Men’s tennis set for NCAA Quarterfinals – UTSports

In a rematch of last year’s semifinals, the Tennessee Vols men’s tennis team will take on the Baylor Bears in the NCAA Quarterfinals Thursday. The winner advances to the semifinals this year, which will take place May 21.

"Tennessee (25-7) handed the Bears its first of three losses this season, doing so in 4-2 fashion on Feb. 20 in Seattle at the ITA Indoor National Championship semifinals. Baylor’s (29-3) other two losses came on March 20 to Michigan, 0-4 on the road and at home on April 3, 3-4 to TCU."
