Hendon Hooker. 2. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Senior. Quarterback. player. 839

6’4″ 218 pounds

His value speaks for itself. Quarterbacks who use their mobility also speaks for itself when it comes to injuries, even in Josh Heupel’s system. Heck, last year, Hendon Hooker only won the starting job because Joe Milton III got hurt against Pitt. These things happen, and you always worry about it with your quarterback.

Well, Hooker himself got hurt twice last year. The Virginia Tech Hokies transfer who hails from North Carolina missed the end of Tennessee football’s games against the Florida Gators and Ole Miss Rebels because he got hurt both times.

That Florida game likely didn’t make any difference, but against Ole Miss, it forced Heupel to put back in Milton when the Vols had the ball in the red zone with a chance to win late. At that point, they clearly missed the quarterback who hails from Greensboro, N.C., and put on a show for the Vols with Heupel last year.

Hooker also dealt with injuries multiple times playing for Justin Fuente at Virginia Tech, so health is clearly a concern for the graduate of Dudley High School in Guilford County going forward. Given how elite he was last year and where his potential is this year, you have to worry about it again.
