Ranking departing Tennessee Lady Vols by toughest to replace
Final take
All four of the players on this list either have somebody directly coming in to replace them. At the same time, there are still some issues surrounding the players the Tennessee Lady Vols lost from last year’s team, as most of them were significant contributors who can’t be overlooked.
Rickea Jackson and Jasmin Franklin all can play the forward spots to offset the departures of Alexus Dye and Keyen Green. However, does either bring the leadership Green brought? Also, Franklin is coming off an injury herself, so how effective can she be?
As mentioned with Rae Burrell, she was the best player on the team when fully healthy, and despite Justine Pissott being a five-star to replace her, she’s still a freshman. How do we know how good she can be from the jump?
Meanwhile, Jillian Hollingshead joins Karoline Striplin looking to provide depth behind Tamari Key at center, and Hollingshead is the future there, but she only averaged five points and two and a half rebounds last year. Can she shoulder that responsibility?
Simply put, even with all these new players, questions are abound. Point guard Jasmine Franklin could be the biggest addition, as the Tennessee Lady Vols only had Brooklynn Miles as someone who truly plays that position last year. Overall, the team is deeper, but it’s not clear if the skills offset the skills of those who left.
