Tennessee football: Top 10 games in 2021 by Vols returning for 2022
6 catches for 102 yards; 2 TDs
Although Jabari Small had a solid stat line for Tennessee football in their 45-21 win over Vanderbilt, Cedric Tillman was the big-play guy. There were multiple games from Tillman that could rival this one and didn’t make the list. He had 152 and 200 receiving yards against the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs respectively with a touchdown in each game.
However, against UGA, he only had four catches for 51 yards before UT fell behind three scores and the game was out of hand. Against Alabama, he did have five catches for 29 yards and a touchdown before Alabama took a two-score lead for good, but this one slightly gets the edge.
Tillman had a 24-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter to put the Vols up 21-0. After Vanderbilt cut it to 24-7 thanks to their halftime Hail Mary, Tillman caught a 46-yard touchdown pass to open the third quarter and give the Vols a 31-7 lead.
It was plays like those that allowed Tennessee football to stay in control of this game when it could have become a bit of a scare down the stretch. Scoring two touchdowns is always a big accomplishment for a receiver, and it’s enough to put Tillman’s game on here.
