Last year, Karoline Striplin actually emerged as the Tennessee Lady Vols’ backup center behind Tamari Key despite being a true forward. Injuries, particularly to Keyen Green, forced her into that role, and honestly, she wasn’t too bad at it. She appeared in nearly seven minutes a game and 25 games on the year.

In that short amount of time, Striplin averaged over two rebounds and two and a half points a game. Once postseason play began, her minutes increased, as she saw over 10 minutes in both SEC Tournament games and against the Louisville Cardinals.

All of this likely had a role in Emily Saunders transferring. However, Striplin’s role will likely decrease again this year. The graduate of Geneva County High School in Hartford, Ala., has to deal with an influx of transfers in the post specifically.

Combine that with the returning talent up front, and Striplin’s role will be once again to fill in if there’s an injury. However, there is lots of experience in the post this year, and many of those players will be gone next year, so she still has a bright future with the Tennessee Lady Vols. One more year to develop would do here a lot of good.
