Ranking all 10 returning Tennessee Lady Vols for 2022-2023

One of three four-stars, along with Karoline Striplin, in the Tennessee Lady Vols’ 2021 recruiting class, Kaiya Wynn was specifically recruited out of Richmond, Texas as an off-guard. Multiple veteran sharpshooters forced her deeper into the depth chart, but Kellie Harper likes as many players who can score off the ball in the backcourt as possible.
Wynn certainly fits that mold. The graduate of Foster High School in Fort Bend County saw action in it too. Injuries forced her onto the court probably earlier than expected, and it was clear she wasn’t ready. Wynn shot 43.2 percent from the free throw line, 12.5 percent from three and 38.5 from the field in general.
Still, she averaged two and a half points and over two rebounds. Add in over half an assists and nearly half a block, and she’s definitely a do-it-all combo guard. She appeared in 28 games and averaged over eight and a half minutes a game.
With players getting healthy, Wynn is another one who will likely almost certainly see a reduced role. It has less to do with transfers than the fact that there won’t be as much room for her given the development of two other wings who could play guard. She’s another one who needs time to develop, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
