In the SEC Tournament semifinals, Tennessee baseball has the chance to exact revenge on the one league team that it lost a series to during the regular season. The Vols will face the Kentucky Wildcats, who beat the LSU Tigers 7-0 earlier in the day.

Led by sixth-year head coach Nick Mingione, Kentucky is the No. 12 seed in the tournament. They upset the No. 5 seed Auburn Tigers Tuesday before losing to LSU Thursday. Then they beat the Vanderbilt Commodores Friday before exacting revenge over LSU Saturday.

UT, meanwhile, the top overall seed, beat Vanderbilt, the No. 8 seed on Thursday after rain delays. They beat LSU, the No. 4 seed who is ranked anywhere from No. 15 to No. 21 depending on the service you go by, 5-2 on Friday. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee baseball’s Saturday matchup.

Ranked No. 1 across the board, Tony Vitello’s team lost two of three at Kentucky back in the beginning of May. Like this tournament, it was a series marred by rain and bad weather. It was the only series the Vols lost all season.

Chase Burns is likely to take the mound for the Vols in this game, but if he doesn’t, Drew Beam would likely start with Burns starting Sunday if they win. Given the fact that it’ll be Kentucky’s fifth game in four days, their starting pitcher is still unclear.

Despite it being a double-elimination tournament since the first round, the semifinals and championship game are both single elimination. Whichever team wins this one will advance to the SEC Tournament Championship Sunday and take on the winner between the Florida Gators and Texas A&M Aggies.

If Tennessee baseball wins, it’ll be the second straight year the Vols have reached the SEC Tournament championship game. After winning the regular season title for the first time since 1995, they would then have a chance to win their first SEC Tournament title since that same year.
