Every team in this pod is hot right now. Alabama State had to win four straight to win the SWAC. Led by 29th-year head coach Danny Hall, GT comes in at 34-22 having most recently beaten the No. 7 ranked Louisville Cardinals 9-4 in the ACC Tournament despite not advancing in their pool.
Campbell, led by eighth-year head coach Justin Haire, comes in at 40-17 having won its fourth Big South Regular season title and third Big South tournament title in five years. They are also on a four-game winning streak and have won six of seven.
Standing out among all them, though, is the favorite in the bracket. Tennessee baseball has won eight straight and 12 of its last 13 games. The Vols are looking to win back to back regionals for the first time in school history.
Whichever team wins this will advance to the Super Regionals. That’ll be a Best of Three series next weekend against the winner of the Statesboro, Ga., Regional, hosted by the No. 16 seed Georgia Southern Eagles and including the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Texas Tech Red Raiders and UNC Greensboro Spartans.
