7. Hendon Hooker – Career completion pct. (Min. 400 attempts)

Current record holder: Peyton Manning (62.5, 1994-97)

Last year, Hendon Hooker broke Erik Ainge’s single-season completion percentage for quarterbacks who threw the ball at least 300 times. He completed 68 percent of his passes, while Ainge complete 67 percent in 2006. However, Ainge’s completion percentage of 62.6 with at least 400 attempts still stands since Hooker only threw it 303 times.

This year, though, Hooker will likely reach the 600-total throw count. Well, Peyton Manning is the record he’ll be chasing then. From a minimum of 400 pass attempts and up, Manning has the record for career completion percentage, and there’s no higher number of attempts where somebody else has it.

Hooker will break that this year. He’ll remain above 65 percent for his career, shattering. Daryl Dickey has Tennessee football’s completion percentage career record for a minimum of 100 attempts at 63, and Hooker will break that as well. Simply put, he’ll have it broken for every number of attempts up to 700.

A huge reason for this is not just based on what will happen last year. There are some negatives that cause it. Hooker takes a lot of sacks. Also, on a less negative note, Josh Heupel’s system is about running to set up the pass despite his focus on tempo, so Hooker will continue to get lots of good looks.
