Evaluating Tennessee football’s 2023 class at dead period: QBs
Top available targets for 2023
Kenyon Nelson
- Three-star (Rivals, 247Sports, On3)
- 6’1″-6’2″; 185-200 lbs
- Stockton, Calif.; Lincoln High School
There are no favorites for Kenyon Nelson right now, but the pro-style quarterback is another player from the West Coast Tennessee football is targeting. This time, though, they are going after a kid from Northern California in San Joaquin County, near the San Francisco Bay Area.
Like Iamaleava, Nelson is a drop-back passer who can also be a major threat running the ball. His recruitment appears to be down to the Vols and the Colorado State Rams, and while CSU would seem like the favorite, the lure of competing in Josh Heupel’s system may outweigh that. The Army Black Knights are also in competition too.
Brock Glenn
- Four-star (Rivals, 247Sports); Three-star (On3, ESPN)
- 6’1″-6’2″; 190-195 lbs
- Memphis, Tenn.; Lausanne High School
Elite prospects from within the state are always worth targeting, particularly when they come from Shelby County, so Brock Glenn obviously makes this list. However, the Vols have a lot of schools to fight off to land Glenn, and those schools seem to have a big advantage over them.
Based on 247Sports, Rivals and On3 predictions, the Auburn Tigers and Florida State Seminoles are the two favorites to land Glenn. The Ohio State Buckeyes, LSU Tigers and TCU Horned Frogs all also have favor over Tennessee football, so landing him will be tricky. However, once again the lure of Heupel’s system and playing in state could help.
