Commitments at TE for 2023

Ethan Davis

  • Four-star
  • 6’5″; 210-230 lbs
  • Suwanee, Ga.; Collins Hill High School

The only commitment for Tennessee football at tight end in the Vols’ 2023 recruiting class, Ethan Davis could immediately be an impact player. Coming out of Georgia, Davis was the second commitment for Rocky Top’s class, making his decision back in December as the early signing period was wrapping up for Josh Heupel and the Vols.

Although he is tall, he is not heavy, which suggests Davis is going to be more of a big-play receiving tight end rather than a blocking tight end. That means he could be a guy to immediately replace Princeton Fant and actually become a bigger star at the position early. Yes, his potential is that great if he holds true to his commitment.

A notably ability Davis has if you look at his highlight reel is out-jumping defensive backs to win 50-50 balls. Honestly, he looks like a guy who could just line up at wideout with a huge size advantage and play the role he is going to play at tight end.

Taking all this into account, while Davis is the only commitment to Tennessee football in this class, he’s a great one. There is room for him to make an early impact, and he certainly helps to offset what could have been a major issue for the Vols in the future.
