If anybody will join Jerome Carvin in leaving Tennessee football early next year, Darnell Wright will do so. Wright was once a five-star and is entering his senior year. He just has an extra year due to the COVID eligibility ruling. However, it’s his second year at left tackle, and with more experience there, he could become an elite breakout player.

In terms of talent, Cooper Mays could leave early too if he plays a full year at center. He’s that great. However, beyond Mays and Wright, everybody is coming back. Ollie Lane will have another year of eligibility as well due to COVID, and he may start this year. Javontez Spraggins emerged as a reliable blocker last year, but there’s no breakout star potential yet.

Spraggins, Lane, Mays, Jackson Lampley and Parker Ball are all interior linemen who will be back next year. Wright, Dayne Davis and Jeremiah Crawford are the tackles. Everybody else is where Glen Elarbee comes into play, as they haven’t seen a lot of action yet.

Either way, even excluding Braeden Krivosh, Gus Hill and Connor Meadows, who are the three walk-ons who don’t really play, Tennessee football is set with enough players to go three-deep at every position in 2023 and three-deep at four of the positions still for 2024. Gerald Mincey was a huge pickup from the Florida Gators, and Addison Nichols could play early this year.
