A loaded 2022 recruiting class at wide receiver has Tennessee football set at the position for the near future. However, Josh Heupel isn’t done bringing in talent there, and he now has the Vols trending for another pass-catcher, this time a 2023 prospect from the Florida Gators’ backyard.

Jaren Hamilton, a three-star on Rivals and 247Sports who is not yet listed on ESPN or On3, has Rocky Top in his top seven. Coming out of F. W. Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Fla., Hamilton is around 6’1″ and weighs in the range of 185 to 190 pounds.

Joining Tennessee football on Hamilton’s list are the Alabama Crimson Tide, USC Trojans, Michigan Wolverines, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Michigan State Spartans and West Virginia Mountaineers. He announced the schools Saturday on Twitter.

None of the schools on the list are from Florida, including UF itself, so the Vols could have a great chance with the Alachua County prospect. Heupel having connections to the state and that region of the state with his experience coaching the UCF Knights should also help.

Given his frame, Hamilton appears to be a guy who could fill one of the slot receiver voids or play wideout. It really depends on what the need for UT will be if they are able to secure him, as he’s likely not a guy who will play immediately.

Heupel’s system calls for lots of receivers in the rotation, even if he just uses three, as the tempo he runs requires lots of players to sub in and out. As a result, despite all the players they already have, more help can always be useful.

There are no favorites on the Rivals Future Cast and no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Hamilton yet. WVU is a plurality favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast, but that doesn’t mean anything. As a result, Tennessee football should strongly be in the running for him.
