Tennessee football 2022 preview by position: OL
Newcomers at OL
Transfers
Gerald Mincey (Florida Gators)
- 6’6″ 337 pounds
- Redshirt sophomore
- Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (Cardinal Gibbons High School)
Joining Tennessee football’s tackle race to replace Cade Mays, Gerald Mincey is considered a rising star at the position. He played in 10 games last year, so he’s got enough experience as a young guy to compete for the role.
2022 recruiting class
Addison Nichols
- 6’5″ 318 pounds
- Freshman
- Atlanta, Ga. (Greater Atlanta Christian School)
The most highly touted member of this past recruiting class for the Vols, Addison Nichols was an early enrollee who saw action at tackle and center. If he emerges at center, he could see the field immediately, but tackle could be open for him too given his potential.
Mo Clipper Jr.
- 6’5″ 305 pounds
- Freshman
- Alpharetta, Ga. (Milton High School)
Another versatile lineman who was an early enrollee, the Vols can use Mo Clipper Jr. where they need him, and he’s already experienced in the system. As a result, he could become part of the rotation this year.
Brian Grant
- 6’7″ 290 pounds
- Freshman
- Fort Walton Beach, Fla. (Chochtawhatchee High School)
He didn’t have the hype that Mo Clipper Jr. or Addison Nichols had, but Brian Grant is also an early enrollee for Tennessee football, and he plays tackle. That gives him a chance to fight for playing time this year.
Masai Reddick
- 6’5″ 335 pounds
- Freshman
- Detroit, Mich. (Cass Technical High School)
Locked in as a guard and as a guy who wasn’t an early enrollee, Masai Reddick provides depth and is good for the future of the Vols. However, he’ll have to develop this year.
Savion Herring (JuCo)
Iowa Central Community College (Fort Dodge, Iowa); Monroe College (Bronx, N.Y.)
- 6’5″ 320 pounds
- Junior
- Kearny, N.Y.
A very late commitment for the Vols, Savion Herring is more of an interior offensive lineman. His experience could work him into the rotation this year, and he’ll almost certainly be in it by 2023.
Walk-ons
Connor Meadows
- 6’4″ 300 pounds
- Freshman
- Trenton, Tenn. (Peabody High School)
Gus Hill
- 6’4″ 300 pounds
- Freshman
- Fayetteville, Tenn. (Fayetteville High School)
