It never makes sense to analyze performances this early into fall camp. Obviously, Tennessee football has a long way to go before the start of the season against the Ball State Cardinals, and right now will still be time to experiment with some things. However, there are other things you can glean from this.

With the Vols roster officially listed now, the combination of that and where players lined up to start came usually answers some questions that were surrounding the team before it all kicked off. That certainly happened in the case of UT entering Josh Heupel’s second year.

Position changes and breakdowns with specific units have been revealed, but some revelations raised other questions on their own. Part of this goes back to when the full roster was initially released, but it all coincides with fall camp, so let’s break down our observations of Tennessee football’s roster with practice underway.

5. Where is Kingston Harris?

We learned about the season-ending injury to Len’Neth Whitehead one day before fall camp started. However, offensive lineman Kingston Harris is not on the roster right now, and there’s no explanation as to why he isn’t. This was similar to the spring when Aubrey Solomon wasn’t listed on the updated roster anymore.

It’s been accepted that Solomon is no longer on the team. What about Harris, though? There are no rumors that he’s entered the transfer portal, and he was actually a backup rotational lineman last year, seeing action on 107 plays. It’s hard to understand exactly what happened.

Although Tennessee football has plenty of depth on the line this year, Harris, a converted defensive lineman, finally appeared to be coming into his own last year. Not having him could actually be a bit of an issue, even if he wasn’t expected to start this year. Either way, this is a question that needs to be answered.
