2. Cameron Miller moves over to defensive back

Yes, part of defining Tennessee football’s wide receiver position was switching Cameron Miller to the other side of the ball. A fringe three-star/four-star commitment, Miller played with the offense in the spring. He’s got a similar profile to Walker Merrill, so he could have filled in at the slot or wideout position depending on where he was needed.

Well, it looks like he’s filling neither role, answering at least one question about the competition there. Given the fact that Miller played free safety as well coming out of Memphis, it makes sense to move him over there, as the Vols are much deeper at receiver for the future than they are at safety with Trevon Flowers and Jaylen McCollough both seniors.

There weren’t many offseason position changes for the Vols, so this is the only one to really detail from the spring, but it’s an interesting one. Defensive back has lots of open competitions this year among players, so keep an eye on what Miller is able to do on that front.

In fact, this isn’t the only standout bit of news regarding the secondary. The Vols also had a lot of players to organize back there, including Miller, based on their skills. That leads to our final and biggest observation about the team to start fall camp.
