4. At LSU Tigers

Saturday, Oct. 8; Tiger Stadium; Baton Rouge, La. 

Another road toss-up game that somewhat leans in the favor of the opponent, Tennessee football gets the LSU Tigers at the right time. In probably two years, Brian Kelly will have a dynasty brewing at LSU the likes of which only Nick Saban can rival. A good coach like Kelly dealing with such elite talent in Louisiana is a deadly combination.

However, this is his first year, so the Vols get them with some growing pains. As a result, it turns into a toss-up game for them. The Vols also get LSU coming off a bye. Taking this into account, they have all the advantages to pull off what would be a huge win here.

The winnability factor of this SEC matchup makes it a crucial game. Rocky Top could be coming into this one with a chance at being 5-0 ahead of their showdown the next week against Alabama. That’s a huge deal, and it would do so much to signify that the program is back.

If the goal is the best season since the Phillip Fulmer era, then this is a great chance at a steal of a win. Falling between Florida and Alabama could make this difficult except for the bye. Although it’s an SEC West game, it’s still a conference game, so it belongs up here on the list.
