Junior. Jimmy Holiday. 4. player. 839. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wide receiver/Return specialist

6’0″ 205 pounds

On Ramel Keyton’s slide, we mentioned that Tennessee football has openings at the wideout and the slot receiver spots. Jimmy Holiday is in competition in the slot, but he’s not likely to fill that void. There are too many other players who are ahead of him right now. However, there’s another avenue for him to become a full-time starter.

Velus Jones Jr. doubled as a kickoff and punt return specialist in addition to his role in the slot, and Holiday should be the favorite to fill one of those voids. Last year, Holiday returned five kickoffs and averaged over 25 yards a return. He’s one of the fastest players on the team, and this should be his chance to shine.

Of course, Squirrel White is a freshman competing in the slot who could land that role too, but Mike Ekeler could use White on punt returns and Holiday on kickoff returns. Both should be huge weapons, and that should be Holiday’s way of breaking out for the Vols this year.

When he committed to Tennessee football as part of the 2020 class, Holiday was an athlete who could actually play quarterback. However, he’s spent the last two years working at receiver. He’ll still probably provide some value there, but he should be a major force on special teams.
