Pittsburgh Panthers. 8th season. 5. player. 866. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Pat Narduzzi

53-37

Winning conference championships at the Power Five level is usually a near-automatic elevation of a head coach, and that’s what Pat Narduzzi was able to do with at Pitt last year. He ended Clemson’s dominance of the ACC, as they had won six straight ACC Championships dating back to 2015, and it wasn’t even by default.

Pitt beat Clemson 27-17. They finished the year 11-3 and in the top 15 of both polls. Although they lost the Peach Bowl to the Michigan State Spartans, it’s one of the best years they have had in decades, and what’s more shocking his how they lost to the Western Michigan Broncos and Miami Hurricanes in the regular season.

Anyway, Narduzzi now has five bowl appearances in seven years at Pitt and has only suffered one losing season. He’s played for the ACC Championship twice, winning it once. Although the success had relatively been modest up to last year, what he did last year has to count.

Now, can he repeat that with Kenny Pickett and Jordan Addison gone? That’ll determine if he’s able to rise up this list or if he’ll fall back down. We’ll have a solid idea pretty early on, as Tennessee football visits Pitt the second game of the season. Last year, Pitt winning by a touchdown was huge for them the rest of the way.
