Scouting Report. 6'6 337 lbs. 3. player. Pick Analysis. Offensive lineman. Gerald Mincey. 839

A Florida Gators transfer, Gerald Mincey is already in a position battle for Tennessee football’s starting left tackle.

He’s the only redshirt sophomore on this list, the only player who directly signed with Josh Heupel and the only player on here who joined Tennessee football this offseason via the transfer portal. Simply put, experience and value from the coaching staff favor Gerald Mincey over most people. As a result, it’s no wonder he’s one of the top sophomores.

Mincey was targeted the minute it was revealed Cade Mays was not coming back for his graduate senior season. That left a void at right tackle. Darnell Wright has since moved back over there, but that left a void at left tackle, and multiple people are vying for that one opening on the offensive line, which returns four starters.

Well, Mincey is firmly in the mix. He joins Jeremiah Crawford, another player Heupel directly signed, the only one in the Vols’ 2021 recruiting class and a junior college transfer at that. Dayne Davis, a former walk-on who saw a good bit of action last year, is also in the hunt.

One of these guys will win he job, and it’s enough to put Mincey on the list. Just being in competition for it favors him, as he has all the potential, and even if he doesn’t win the job, it’s a safe bet at this point that Glen Elarbee become part of the rotation pretty quickly.
