Tennessee football: Prediction for every game on Vols’ 2022 schedule plus bowl projections
7-3 (3-3)
Last year proved that when Tennessee football needs to get on the right track, they just need to play the Missouri Tigers. Heading into this matchup, they’ll be in the midst of a three-game SEC losing streak with three losses in four games overall, completely resetting their expectations after tons of hype at the beginning of the year.
However, Hendon Hooker and Cedric Tillman will still be playing for records, and this team will still have an elite bowl game to play for. As a result, there will still be some excitement as Josh Heupel gets set to face the school where he served as an offensive coordinator in 2016 and 2017.
Those factors will allow the Vols to go off again. For the second straight year, they’ll blow out Mizzou and Eli Drinkwitz’s team. Mizzou may get its points since Drinkwitz is actually a pretty brilliant offensive mind, but they won’t have anybody to stop the Vols’ offense.
With no more championships in play and just a good bowl game, the Vols will be able to refocus and simply have a good time in this outing. That’s exactly what they’ll do, and they’ll be able to take some good out of it, as after this win, they will have matched last year’s win total with three games still left to play.
