Former Tennessee football offensive coordinator Dave Clawson will get to face his old team. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will once again have a solid year and be the ACC invite to the Gator Bowl. Meanwhile, the Vols will enter this bowl game with a top 25 finish and a nine-win season all possibilities. After a month of rest, they’ll be ready.

Cedric Tillman will opt out to get ready for the draft, but Hendon Hooker will want one more game to improve his draft stock. That game will be all he needs, and the Vols will go off. After such a long rest, it’ll be a typical Josh Heupel game in which they score 28 points in the first quarter.

Wake Forest will play catch-up the rest of the way. They’ll still get their own touchdowns, don’t get me wrong, and they may even bring it to within two scores in the third quarter. However, Hooker will go off again after that, making sure his final game in orange is a memorable one.

In the process, Tennessee football will have its first nine-win season since 2016 and just its third since 2008. That’ll also result in its first top 25 finish since 2016 and third since 2008. It won’t be where they hoped they would end up after a 5-0 start, but it’ll still be enough momentum for Josh Heupel to enter the offseason preparing for another big step in 2023.
