Tennessee football: Prediction for every game on Vols’ 2022 schedule plus bowl projections
5-1 (2-1)
It’ll be the most anticipated matchup between Tennessee football and the Alabama Crimson Tide ever since Nick Saban took over in Tuscaloosa back in 2007. There will be two undefeated teams likely in the top 10. What’s most interesting is that this game isn’t a divisional game, and the loser won’t be eliminated from the College Football Playoff.
However, the loser will have less breathing room the rest of the way. College GameDay will come to town to promote this matchup, and everybody will be focused on it. That won’t make what happens between the hashmarks any different from what has been happening in the past, though.
You may want to give the Vols credit for hanging tough with Alabama on the road last year. It was a one-score game in the fourth quarter. Well, they still lost 52-24. Alabama is even better this year with so much talent back, and they’re on a mission after what happened to them in the national championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
As a result, Tennessee football will just be another one of their victims. Josh Heupel’s offense and Hendon Hooker’s ability will all be irrelevant in this one. Alabama will dominate from the start, and they’ll embarrass the Vols as they hand them their first loss of the season.
