LSU Tigers. 9. player. 817. Pick Analysis. Wide receiver. Kayshon Boutte. Scouting Report

6’0″ 205 pounds

One of the most ridiculous parts of this preseason has been Kayshon Boutte being among the two receivers to earn First Team Media Preseason All-SEC over Cedric Tillman. Boutte was also First Team Coaches All-SEC with Tillman, but Tillman is the best returning receiver in the SEC. That doesn’t mean Boutte isn’t a big deal.

There’s a reason Boutte is the one player to earn first team by both the coaches and the media, even if Tillman should’ve earned it too. He had 45 catches for 735 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman in 2020. Last year, Boutte missed the entire second half of the season due to injury.

Before getting hurt, though, Boutte had 38 catches for 509 yards and nine touchdowns…through six games. He proved himself to be a star, and even if he has some growing pains coming back from injury, he should be fully back in rhythm by the time Tennessee football visits in October.

Add in Brian Kelly’s offensive mind, and Boutte all of a sudden looks like a potential All-American. One more factor here is the issue with the Vols’ secondary. Now we’re talking about a potentially history game from Boutte if they’re not careful. As a result, he’s definitely one of the toughest players they’ll have to face.
