Scouting Report. Georgia Bulldogs. Brock Bowers. 3. Pick Analysis. Tight end. player. 814

6’4″ 230 pounds

Josh Heupel is familiar with dominant tight ends. When he was Mizzou’s offensive coordinator, Albert Okwuegbunam was an emerging star and had 11 touchdown receptions. Georgia’s in a similar situation with its tight ends this year while Tennessee football still works to incorporate Princeton Fant and Jacob Warren more into the passing game.

Anyway, Brock Bowers is another All-American. A huge reason for Stetson Bennett looking so efficient is Bowers being his safety blanket. Last year, Bowers had 56 catches for 882 yards and an incredible 13 touchdowns. He also had four carries for 56 yards and a touchdown, so he had over 900 yards and 14 touchdowns from scrimmage.

Yes, Bowers was Georgia’s leading receiver, and he was nearly 400 yards clear of everybody else. For a tight end to be that dominant on a national championship team speaks to his value. Blocking is still critical for tight ends at UGA too, and Bowers provides enough of that.

This was all as a freshman. Imagine what he could do this year with more experience and a greater need to step up. Now, here’s another player who wasn’t effective against the Vols, as he had two catches for 23 yards, but again, it’s not likely something like that happens to years in a row. UT will have to deal with him.
