Pick Analysis. 3. player. 866. Scouting Report. Wide receiver. Pittsburgh Panthers. Konata Mumpfield

6’1″ 180 pounds

Let’s state up front that nobody from the Akron Zips made it onto this list. They were awful last year and are undergoing a coaching change. Tennessee football’s most sure win is Akron, and the closest a player from there comes to getting on this list is one of the players who transferred from there to another non-conference foe of the Vols.

Yes, Konata Mumpfield transferred from Akron to Pitt and is automatically one of the toughest players UT will face. He was a bright spot for Akron last year, catching 63 passes for 751 yards and eight touchdowns, earning Freshman All-American honors in the process.

Pitt lost star receiver Jordan Addison in addition to their quarterback in Kenny Pickett, so Pat Narduzzi had to go out and find new talent. He lured Mumpfield to his program, and that should once again make their passing attack a threat if their quarterback situation is in good shape.

Funny enough, Mumpfield is the only offensive skill player on this list, and to be fair, it was a tough call. There’s a chance tight end Gavin Bartholomew breaks out and becomes a bigger weapon for them. However, the projection now is on Mumpfield, and given the Vols’ issues in the secondary, that puts him on this list.
