Tennessee football: 10 Vols most likely to win postseason awards in 2022

Was this ever even a question? If Hendon Hooker played the whole season last year, he might have broken a few more records. He still broke Tennessee football’s completion percentage, touchdown-to-interception ratio and yards per attempt records for a quarterback who threw the ball at least 300 times.
Hooker completed 206-of-303 passes (68 percent) for 2,945 yards (9.7 yards per attempt), 31 touchdowns and just three interceptions. With efficiency records shattered, he’s gunning for single-season totals records this year, and there’s a great chance he shatters them.
Although Jabari Small would be the catalyst for the offense, he’s the catalyst so the quarterback can be the major playmaker. Hooker has proven he can take on that role, as the offense did a complete 180 once he settled into the role as the starting quarterback last year.
Given how dangerous he is with his legs and the fact that he still has Cedric Tillman at receiver, Hooker should rack up stats once again for Tennessee football. If he can cut down on his sack totals, he could be looking at a 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards season.
There’s a great chance Hooker easily breaks Peyton Manning’s single-season school records for passing touchdowns, total touchdowns and total offense, all set in 1997. Manning was a Heisman runner-up that year and should have won it. Obviously, that means Hooker is in great position to rack up postseason awards this year.
