Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Princeton Fant. 9. Tight end. r-Senior. player. 839

Yes, both tight ends starting by-committee are on here. Princeton Fant doesn’t have the touchdown advantage Jacob Warren has. However, he’s the playmaking tight end for Tennessee football between the 20s, and honestly, that’ll be a lot more crucial this year than it was last year for the Vols.

Last year, Fant had 16 catches for 220 yards and a touchdown. However, now Velus Jones Jr. and Javonta Payton are gone. That’s two of the three main receiver Josh Heupel and Alex Golesh relied on, so they’ll likely turn more to the tight ends. Given the nature of their roles, that also means Golesh will rely on Fant more for big plays.

As a result, while Warren could be the touchdown machine and the elite blocker, Fant could get the yards, and it wouldn’t be crazy to see him get 500 or more receiving yards this year. Fant was once a running back and committed to UT as an athlete, so he can do a lot with the ball in his hands.

Also, if Fant is used more, his touchdown count might go up anyway, as he could score on some big plays and not just have to wait until Tennessee football gets into the red zone. As a result, he’s definitely in a good position to earn postseason recognition, which got him on this list.
