Scouting Report. Offensive lineman. 839. Pick Analysis. 6'5 321 lbs. Jerome Carvin. 3. player

The most experienced blocker for Tennessee football, Jerome Carvin will be an anchor on the line once again.

Experience has somewhat been an enemy of Jerome Carvin’s. He was one of Jeremy Pruitt’s first commitments, making his decision in 2017 as a four-star in Tennessee football’s 2018 recruiting class. Since then, he’s seen time at tackle, guard and even center, playing in multiple different spots on the line.

In terms of development, that has helped him tremendously. However, in terms of getting his name out there to NFL scouts, it’s held him back. Carvin is best at left guard. Last year, though, with Cooper Mays getting banged up, he had to move over to center a lot, and it hurt his draft stock since that isn’t his natural position.

All of this could probably be the reason he decided to return for a second senior season. To be fair, regardless of the position he was playing, there were some factors you couldn’t ignore. Carvin didn’t allow a sack last year in nearly 900 snaps, and he was a catalyst for the elite rushing attack the Vols enjoyed.

Taking that into account, if he can stay locked in at left guard this year, he could emerge into a superstar. There’s a lot more talk about Darnell Wright and Mays himself, but Carvin has proven his reliability. As a result, don’t be shocked if he has a splash of a second senior season.
